Update from Bloodhoof village

In Bloodhoof village, I’m really starting to get settled. It is a nice place for a player like me, who wants to practice some skills: It has water for fishing, the swoops provide you with eggs that can be cooked to give spiced eggs (provides ‘Well Fed’ bonus), humanoids for linnen rags that can be used to stitch bandages using the First Aid skill. A lot of prey is skinnable here, allowing me to level up on Skinning and Leatherworking.

WoW: A new game on the block

I got a new toy: World of Warcraft (WoW). It’s a massive online multiplayer game in a 3D virtual world.

There are two continents, one for the Horde (my main avatar is from the Horde) and the other one for the Alliance. The Horde continent is named Kalimdor, and the Allicance continent is called ‘The Eastern kingdoms‘. Humans live in the Eastern kingdoms, for example.

The greatest city in Kalimdor is called Orgrimmar. The zeppelins to the Eastern kingdoms fly from here, and there is a direct flight from Orgrimmar to the city of Thunderbluff, the capital of Mulgore, home to the race of Tauren. It is there, in Mulgore, where my avatar was born, a Tauren shaman.

“Born in a little place, called Camp Narache, I was raised to the way of the spirits, killing my first prey with a swift combination of melee and ranged lightning. When the elders told me to make the journey to Bloodhoof village, I headed their call. ” Stuff like that…

The zeppelin in Orgrimmar (zone: Durotar) flies to two destinations in the Eastern kingdoms: to the North of it, to the Undercity in the Tiristal Glades zone. And to the South, to Grom’gol Base Camp (zone: Strangleton Vale). The zeppelins also fly between Undercity and Grom’gol Base Camp, making a triangle on the world map with zeppelin destinations. And best of all: the zeppelin is free, while the wind ride between Thunderbluff and Orgrimmar costs 50 copper.

Right now I’ve got my work cut out for me: Hunting beasts and forfilling quests will allow me to level up a bit. Level 10 is not exactly high, on a scale from 1 to 60.

Mijn eerste keer paardrijden

Wat kijkt dat paard lief in de camera, is het niet? Tja… helaas ben ik dus wel allergisch voor paarden, vrees ik dus da’s een beetje een show-stopper.

Paardrijden is een fijn iets, als je er eenmaal aan gewend bent dat je bovenop een groot dier gaat zitten, een dier dat veel sterker is dan jezelf. De eerste 5 minuten was ik echt super super bang. Maar na een kwartiertje stapvoets was ik er redelijk aan gewend. Het was een simpele eerste les, met niet meer dan rondjes aan een touw lopen. Maar voor mij was het al spannend genoeg, en ook toch wel zodanig leuk dat ik het graag nog een keer wil proberen.

Okee, toegegeven, ik zit er een beetje op als een zoutzak. Maar da’s mijn normale state of being. Het tweede gedeelte van de les zaten vol met leuke dingen… zoals bijvoorbeeld een heeeeel klein stukje ‘drrraf’ en figuren rijden vond ik ook heel leuk.. zo van ‘nu gaan we naar links sturen, en nu naar rechts, en nu stoppen en nu weer stappen’. En wat ook wel moeilijk was, was om te gaan staan in de stijgbeugels. Ik bracht daar niet veel van terecht, eigelijk Maargoed, het was wel leuk. Zo’n manege bak staat dus vol met allerlei letters zodat je figuren kan rijden. Der is zelfs een grote spiegel waarin je kan zien hoe je op het paard zit.

Ga ik het nog eens doen? Tja… dat is een moeilijke vraag, want allergie betekent gewoon dat het nooit langer dan een uurtje kan, en dat ik de rest van de dag aan het bijkomen ben. Maar ik wil nog wel graag dingen leren. Ik zou graag eens zonder touw willen stappen… draf, en uiteindelijk galop, buiten. Maarja, dat is denk ik te hoog gegrepen voor mij. Ik zie het wel.
